UNREAL
was founded in January 2001 by Rogier Samuels and Carola Brockhoff. The company specializes in making things that look REAL, but aren’t. Some of the specializations include Special Make-up Effects, Special Props, Realistic Dummies, and other effects, which can be utilized for different media such as, film, television, commercials, photo shoots and theatre. Standards are set high, because the quality of the work is the main source of inspiration.
After having worked on a large number of Dutch film, television and theatre productions, UNREAL was invited by New Zealand's Weta Workshop to collaborate on Peter Jackson’s ‘The Lord of the Rings’ .
WHO AND WHY
Rogier started his career in 1994 and was joined by Carola in 1998. Carola specialises in fabrication, finishing, and styling of effects. Hence Rogier is specialised in design. On returning to Amsterdam, they utilised their experiences gained in New Zealand and refined existing techniques while exploring new boundaries at the same time.
With over 18 years of experience, the team is capable of managing a wide variety of projects with the ability to execute these in-house. The capability to come up with creative solutions has been one of the reasons why UNREAL has been chosen to create effects for eye-catching productions.
